monitoring of renal function, followed by a gradual reintroduction of a
standard diet
• Need to monitor for adverse effects like "keto flu", characterized by
insomnia, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diff iculty exercising, headaches,
constipation, and dizziness
• Assess for def iciencies in vitamins and minerals
• Monitor for kidney stones, hepatic steatosis, and hypoproteinemia
• Long-term health risks beyond two years are unknown
