TREATMENT
Identifying Goals of Treatment
• Goals of treatment will usually include:
» Providing education to the patient and family about eating
disorders and their treatment.
» Reducing the severity of symptoms.
» Promoting healthy behaviors and addressing any physical health
issues.
» Improving the patient's level of functioning and quality of life.
• Patients will often have their own goals for treatment related
to issues such as school or employment, living situation,
past experiences, and personal, family, or other intimate
relationships.
• Other goals will depend on the patient's specific eating disorder.
