38 Treatment CABG in Patients Undergoing Other Cardiac Surgery COR LOE Recommendations 1 C-LD 1. In patients undergoing valve surgery, aortic surgery, or other cardiac operations who have significant CAD, CABG is recommended with a goal of reducing ischemic events. 2b C-LD 2. In patients undergoing valve surgery, aortic surgery, or other cardiac operations who have intermediate CAD, CABG may be reasonable with a goal of reducing ischemic events. Use of Epiaortic Ultrasound in Patients Undergoing CABG COR LOE Recommendation 2a B-NR 1. In patients undergoing CABG, the routine use of epiaortic ultrasound scanning can be useful to evaluate the presence, location, and severity of plaque in the ascending aorta to reduce the incidence of atheroembolic complications.
