Neutral/variable effects on body weight:
• Amisulpride
• Aripiprazole
• Asenapine
• Cariprazine
• Lurasidone
• Ziprasidone
• Paliperidone
• Perphenazine
Hypnotics
May increase body weight:
• Diphenhydramine
• Zolpidem (may increase risk of sleep-related eating disorder)
May have limited effects on body weight:
• Benzodiazepines
• Melatonergic hypnotics
• Trazodone
Pain Treatments
• Pain relievers:
▶ NSAIDs and acetaminophen
> May not lead to weight change (unless edema occurs due to
NSAID-induced kidney damage)
▶ Opioids:
> New persistent opioid users may lose less weight after bariatric
surgery
> Methadone or buprenorphine/naloxone treatment for opioid
use disorder is associated with weight gain
Neuropathy
May increase body weight:
• Gabapentin
• Pregabalin
