13 Some Drug Interactions Contraindications • Cyclosporine should be taken at least 3 hours before or after orlistat as orlistat reduces cyclosporine absorption and plasma levels. • Orlistat reduces beta-carotene supplement absorption by 30% and vitamin E acetate supplement by 60%. • Orlistat reduces vitamin K absorption and plasma levels. Therefore, patients on warfarin should be monitored closely for changes in coagulation parameters. • Orlistat may reduce levothyroxine absorption. Therefore levothyroxine and orlistat should be administered at least 4 hours apart. • Chronic malabsorption syndrome • Cholestasis
