Comments Administer 15 to 30 min before each meal. Administer 15 to 30 min before each meal. Give in divided doses within 15 min prior to meals. Administer with first bite of each main meal; dosage should be gradually increased as tolerated over several weeks. Indicated as an adjunct treatment in patients taking prandial insulin who have not achieved desired glucose control. Frequent monitoring of blood glucose levels is required to titrate dosage. Contraindicated in patients with hypoglycemia unawareness or gastroparesis. Adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with T2DM. Should be taken with a meal and liquid. Adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with T2DM. Taken with food within two hours after waking in the morning. Administer with or without food. Replacing pioglitazone and metformin if taken separately as combination therapy, or if uncontrolled on pioglitazone or metformin alone. Administer in divided doses with meals to reduce GI side effects associated with metformin. Causes or exacerbates CHF in some patients. If signs and symptoms of CHF develop, treat accordingly and discontinue pioglitazone. Contraindicated in NYHA Class III or IV CHF. Replacing pioglitazone and SU if taken separately as combination therapy, or if uncontrolled on pioglitazone or SU alone. 23
