A schematic overview of common lesion sets created during an AF ablation procedure.
Some patients with paroxysmal AF may be undertreated with pulmonary vein (PV)
isolation (PVI) alone and PVI may not be enough to control persistent and long-standing
persistent AF. Further modification of the atrial substrate may be required. One of the
strategies that has been proposed is to electrically isolation of the posterior wall. is can
be performed by creating a linear ablation of the LA roof joining the superior PVs and the
LA floor joining the inferior PVs or by point-by-point ablation of the entire posterior wall.
