Lipid and Lipoprotein Concentrations Lipoprotein Structure (Figures 2 and 3) ÎThe apoB containing lipoproteins each contain a single molecule of apoB (VLDL-P + intermediate-density lipoprotein-P [IDL-P] + LDL-P). ÎBecause of its much longer half-life, > 90% of apoB particles are LDL- particles. Thus, apoB is a measure of total LDL-P. ÎNon-HDL-C is the cholesterol carried within the apoB particles (the vast majority of which are LDL particles). It is a surrogate of LDL-P, not VLDL-P. 3
