13 3.3. Mental Health and Neurocognitive Assessment COR LOE Recommendations 1 C-LD 1. Adults with congenital heart disease should be assessed for mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, to identify those who may benefit from mental health services. 2a C-LD 2. For adults with congenital heart disease who have mental health concerns, referral to a mental health clinician can be beneficial to improve psychological symptoms and quality of life. 2b B-NR 3. For adults with congenital heart disease, neuropsychological testing may be considered to guide therapies that enhance academic, behavioral, psychosocial, and adaptive functioning. 2b C-LD 4. For adults with congenital heart disease, evaluation for cognitive decline and frailty may be considered to identify patients who can benefit from additional support.
