Document Assessment 10 ➤ The increased detail available from the SVS/STS classification system will shed new light on a number of conditions predisposing to aortic dissection, many of which may have distinctive anatomic features not yet identified. Among these are: Causes and Risk Factors Hypertension Genetically triggered connective tissue disorders (CTDs) e most well-known CTDs include Marfan Syndrome (MFS), Loeys-Dietz Syndrome (LDS), and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Congenital: • Bicuspid aortic valve • Coarctation of the aorta • Kommerell diverticulum Penetrating aortic ulcer Trauma Illicit drugs: • Amphetamine • Methamphetamine • MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine)/Ecstasy Ethnicity/Race
